2019 Summer MAAT lab Study: 2019.07.29 – 08.02  (MAAT BOOK 27)

Body, Symbol, Form, Rhythm

Dear my researching comrades,

In this summer, we are going back to André Leroi-Gourhan again. The last chapter, III. Ethnic Symbols, was not covered in the fall semester of 2018, and those uncovered section of BSFR might be able to deterritorialize certain firm systematic thoughts. We do not have to be confined to Leroi-Gourhan’s structuralism or post-structuralism, because there are already full of discourses on those points. Thus, we try to extract several keywords from the given text area in the lab study. Absolutely, it is for your own selfish research.

One body in different milieu induces individuated symbols followed by forms, and their [discoverable or enforced] rhythms are established. Or, a certain rhythm lets symbols and forms be inscribed on a body. Simply put, why it is not easy to learn foreign languages, and why it is much easier to learn a foreign language staying in the country than in her/his own native country.

Be cautious! Be aware of not falling into comfortable black holes, because we need to be awake for a while, just for a while.

Nessun dorma! Nessun dorma! … Ed il mio bacio scioglierà il silenzio che ti fa mia! None shall sleep! None shall sleep! … And my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine! - Giacomo Puccini, Turandot, 1924
